The trouble with birthdays and other unexpected firmware updates

Well, for starters

it’s that you’ve

probably never

really considered

birthdays

to be in the

problematic  category

at all,

or, by sharp

contrast,

perhaps you have

anchored them

in that very category

for so long

that you literally

cannot fathom

them to be worthy

of any other

type of classification…

probably ever.

And herein lies

the rub.

And mind you, not the good kind,

but I digress…

What happens when

you catch the meerest

glimpse, or even

the faintest suggestion

of how the other

half lives?

Fundamentally changing

the way you view things,

that aren’t really

things at all?

To my own heart,

this has brought

consideration, contemplation even,

and a longing to

make things right,

without the faintest

notion of what

right might actually

be.

So perhaps this

isn’t

about birthdays

at all,

and instead about

connection,

keeping the other person in mind, and

holding space

for them to

expand into

their fully wondrous self

at their own pace,

with the luxury of time…
