gave me wings.

Work wings,

at first.

You with your stories

and parables

and near-blind belief

in the extraordinary capabilities

of ordinary people.

You

gave me life wings,

next.

As your genuine care

and kindness

made me realise

that I was worth

much more

than I had been

selling myself

short for.

You gave me

creative wings,

full, deep, lush

rainbow-coloured

wings

with talk of, and appreciation

for, all things

writing

and books.

You gave

me

rare human wings

as I watched in

wonder, as your

positive impact on

others

continues to transform

the world.
