I’ll get up

and this glorious

night will end,

to be replayed in my mindseye.

Often.

The memories

of these early

days to be delighed

in.

Drunk

like first press

wine,

its potential

unlimited.

In four minutes

I’ll get up

and tuck my

pillow gently

behind your back,

hoping to fool you

into not

noticing the

absence of my

body

melting into yours.

In two minutes

I’ll open

windows,

letting in the

cool thick air

to lull you

back into

that most delicious

of just before

dawn sleep.

In two hours

I’ll hand you

your first coffee

of the day,

smug in the

knowledge that it is

crafted just so,

to your particular

taste.

I’ll watch you

sipping it naked

if I’m lucky, I’m sure.

Holding a cigarette

as we embrace the

newness and luxury

of

these special days.
