There’s a certain

beauty

in the rhythmic,

hypnotic sway

of their

arms,

as they rapidly

pass,

water so still

the paddles cut

clean through.

Apparently they

lead

with

their elbows.

Something a

novice

like me,

cannot see.

What I can

do

though,

is feel.

Feel what

it’s like

to be

truly in

my own

body.

Of being

on the water.

Free.

No phone.

No meeting.

No urgent email.

Not even

a friendly dog

to pet,

or feed.

Just me.

Here,

with my

soul.

There’s a certain

stillness,

despite

the choppy waves,

and the

tearing wind,

which I

cannot describe,

yet invite you

to feel,

for

yourself.
