There is
a place, I
go to, or rather
that I am often
trapped inside, inadvertently
and with
little hope
of escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My mindscape
is often
terrifying.
Cutting me
off at
the knees,
and leaving a
frightened, pale
and insipid
version of
me,
on full display,
to be goaded
and ridiculed
by all I
meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet in this
lies the
crux of the matter also\u2026
For these terrors
only ever play
out on the
canvas of my
very own mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the tragedies
and disappointments
chronicalled there, near-never
see the light
of day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet the pull of that frightening
place, where one
is dragged to
so swiftly and without
recourse, is profoundly
debilitating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So today I
chose to go the
other
way, and ask:
\u201cSo what then?\u201d
which seems
to have melted
large gaps
in the walls of
my particular dungeon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quick to the challenge,
I stepped things up
a notch
with: \u201cI\u2019ve lived through worse\u2026\u201d
bringing down
my backbreaking sword
with a final:
\u201cI\u2019ll figure it out when I get there,
I\u2019ve done so before\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I sipped my
coffee
and waited.
Those mental walls did
not rebuild
themselves.
I sat in the sunshine,
remembering
who I mostly
am, for she
is glorious, just
like you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
