in the in-between,
a place not
unlike the famous
Eagles’ Hotel California.
I’m probably
better than
ok,
here.
Yet it’s
a place I know
I cannot stay
in
forever.
See,
I have skills
to learn,
and books to
gift the
world.
I literally have
a canoe
to paddle.
And muscle
to build.
I’m tired
though. Because
I’m also doing
my best to
keep up the
facade of
actually adulting.
Theoretically
this means that
I should be the bigger person
and not pout
when I lose
at backgammon.
Oops, I failed dismally there!
I should also
unblock the drain,
keep the house tidy,
and do the laundry,
while rivalling Snow White
or perhaps even Julie Andrews
in the Sound of Music.
Oops again.
That said,
I AM having fun. Hanging
out with the best
people.
Loving.
Having deep
conversations.
Enjoying
interesting
books.
Yet I cannot
stay in Purgatory
forever.
And I do
know this,
probably exactly
like you do too, as
you contemplate
that next big shift,
that mountain
to climb,
that demon to
slay,
or that personal best
to smash.
And for
that
I commend you.
I have seen
our future,
and it
is
good.
