A friend

once told me

a story, 

folklore.

Of a woman

who

was turned

into 

a donkey,

because 

she

forgot to 

wear 

earrings.

At first

I

giggled, for

donkeys are

cute,

and who

wouldn’t enjoy

a life

of 

leisure.

and then I recalled

that donkeys

were in fact

the workhorse

of the day

and often

mistreated.

And in that

lies

the power of 

this story…

Take time to

see, and

add to 

the beauty

in 

you own life

daily.

For failing 

to do that

turns you

into 

another runner

in the 

rat race,

blinkers 

on,

and failing 

to see

the wonder

that abounds.
