I love it
when you tell me
what to
do.
Me, a grown woman
with a house,
and a bond,
and a dog,
and a serious job.
Why is this?
And how can it
be so?
It’s all
in the telling,
or rather,
the place
that the telling
is from.
It’s a place
of deep affection,
of love,
of I-see-what-you’re-doing-there,
and I’m-here-to-help-you-
to-take-care-of-you.
And this simple
act,
Dear One,
breaks my brain,
and cooks
my noodle.
For it breaks open
the geode
that’s been sleeping
inside me,
since before
I was born.
There can be
only one.
No.
There can be
two,
and they can
cling together,
and be a
force of
nature,
and withstand
and even flourish in,
any storm.
For this
is the place
of deep
connection,
of oneness
despite
separation.
This is the
place, to
break open
the Dragon’s
egg,
and truly
live.
And for this
and all the
wonder,
you continue
to bring,
I thank
you.
